New Recipe for Mineral Casting Beds Reduces Deformation by 50%

Klement (Shandong) New Material Technology Co., Ltd. is a mineral casting manufacturer in China. The company has developed a new solid machine tool formulation using specially treated aggregates. The elastic modulus of the mineral casting is greater than 80,000 N/mm², which makes it stiffer and more than 50% more resistant to deformation than all previously known epoxy- or cement-based cast mineral formulations. This international innovation can significantly reduce machine deformation, allowing the machine to operate with greater precision and precision.

A good bed is the solid foundation of every machine. When vibrations are fully damped and large thermal inertia is required, solid castable materials—for example, epoxy-bonded mineral castings or cement-bonded ultra-high performance concrete—are preferred. Claremont is an expert in machinery and machine tool mineral castings. The company has now developed a new formulation that significantly increases the material's elastic modulus and spring rate. Normal formulations for epoxy or cement-based mineral castings result in Young's modulus between 35,000 and 45,000 MPa. With the new formulation Nanodur E80, the pressure will be higher than 80,000 MPa. Compared to a structural component of the same size, stiffness is increased by 50% and deformation is correspondingly minimized.

The secret to this unique international development is the exchange of natural stone with industrially reinforced aggregates. It burns at temperatures in excess of 1,400 °C and solidifies during sintering. Result: The elastic modulus increased significantly and the wear resistance of the hardened concrete also increased. This technique is also easy to cast, enables production without solvents, and maintains the self-compacting properties of the mixture. Cold-hardening castings are highly resistant to deformation and bending, setting new standards for mineral casting materials.

The improved material of construction puts the material in a separate category and has its price. Nevertheless, the material cost of cement-based castables is still lower than that of epoxy-bonded mineral castings.

The users of these high-quality materials are machine builders, for whom dimensional stability and vibration damping are prerequisites for achieving the required precision.
